Field Day 2010 is now history, but it was memorable in deed. Two things are always a must at an M.A.R.C field day and that is lots of great food and lots of good friends to share the day with. We had both this year, possibly the best field day we've had in several years.
Only a few minor snafu's, first both of the balloons were present and accounted for but the 80m loop was MIA and since there was no antenna it was decided the balloon was not needed this year hence no balloon cam, but not to fear, the whole affair was webcast on this web page which was a great success after the internet conection bugs were worked out. It was a good first attempt at remote webcasting so be sure to check it out the next time for even more improvements.
All the bands were in pretty good shape as the contacts kept coming in. The competition between OVO & Dan "N3WRH" was intense, I don't think there was a clear winner so the banter is sure to continue. Due to a prior commitment Tom "KI3R" was unable to stay for all the activities but John "N3QVO" was still able to hammer out a good number of CW contacts.
In order to keep up their strength, Field Day goers were treated to a bountiful spread as like no other. Food and refreshments were in ample supply, anything from subs to pizza and covered dishes prepared by the members. Someone said Cora even brought her Famous brownies but I never saw them. The plate however appeared as if it had been picked clean. This must have occured while Cora was grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs so graciously donated by generous owner of the Little Red Caboose on Rt.51 in Elizabeth, Pa. of which we are very thankful.
